Where did the idea for your business come from?
Keith started creating video tutorials for a student in his class who was absent for a long period of time. When the student returned to class after a long period of time out of the classroom, she was ahead of most of your peers as she was able to progress her learning with the use of the video tutorials. This was the light bulb moment and resulted in ExamRevision.ie!
Gap in the market:
For students – No website available to support learning outside the classroom through a selection of high-quality resources specific to the Irish curriculum!
For Teachers – No website available providing high quality resources for teachers to assign to students, use in class, monitor and track student progress.

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
Managing cashflow and having the large initial capital investment was a considerable challenge in the start. As we are a tech business the capital investment at the start is very high which was a real challenge in creating the platform. Furthermore, getting high quality content creators was a challenge due to our limited cashflow – one of the ways we overcame this problem was by offering our content creators a franchise model whereby they get a % of all sales for their subject. This allowed us to get experience, expert teachers to create high quality content for their specific subject while investing all our capital into the tech on our platform. This enabled us to create a state or the art platform for both students and teachers with high quality content to go along with it!
How have you promoted your business?
We mainly promote our business via social media. Again this is linked to our limited cashflow – we know we need help with marketing and need to invest in marketing but all of our funds go into creating the best platform possible for our users and having high quality content for each subject! We have a 40% repeat customer rate currently and we’ve never had to offer a refund to our customers so we know our product is demanded and good!
Where do you see the business in 3 years’ time?
Becoming Ireland’s Leading Educational Platform for both students and teachers in secondary schools!
What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Just go for it and take the leap of fate! Some many people have fantastic ideas but din’t take the risk – just do it and you won’t regret it!
